a brief synopsis...

"Plume & Peck" is a comic strip about two best friends who have two different outlooks on life. "Plume" is a robin who embraces bird-life with open arms (wings?). Peck is a blue jay weary of daily bird rituals. Between the two, they tackle situations within their own species, while also observing and commenting on human nature.

origins and evolutions...

I officially introduced "Plume & Peck" in early 2004, although the characters existed in my own little comic world over a year beforehand. It was originally just entitled "Plume", with none of the characters actually named "Plume." After evaluation from myself, as well as feedback from my first syndicate submissions, I decided to rename one of the two main characters "Plume" and also include "Peck" as a title character. Other changes were also made in regards to frame formatting and text volume. This results in, I believe, a sharper and more streamlined comic strip.

locals...

Besides this website, "Plume & Peck" currently resides on an email list that has grown to invade about 100 inboxes on a bi-weekly basis (click here if you wish to be added to the list!). A number of web/online comic sites also preview and provide links to this site. As more material is created, I will be sending submissions to syndicates and local/college papers for possible publication. A collection of "Plume & Peck" in book form is a future project as well.

the deviant behind all of this...

I suppose I should mention a little bit about myself. Along with my comic characters, I reside in Chicago, and have lived in the Chicagoland area for most of my life. My formal studies were in trombone performance and jazz composition. I currently play guitar and keyboards with my brother in a rock band called The Assembly. Even though "Plume & Peck" is my first venture into creating a comic strip, I've always been fascinated with the medium. What other art form (and I do consider it an art form!!!) allows you to draw, write, and express your humorous side on a daily basis? What other art form has it's own special place in newspapers all over the world?

I do hope you enjoy the strip. I encourage you to contact me with any suggestions, comments, or questions. Thanks for reading!

Sincerely,

Nathan Suh - Creator
